Topic: Unetbootin and Asus EEE Install howto

    Presenter: Ryan Rix

Abstract: Everyone knows about the EEE line of laptops produced by Asus. Some run GNU/Linux, they all have an incredible battery life, and are very cool looking. They have a HUGE user base of not just 'regular' users, but also hackers geeks and modders, as well. One of the major setbacks of these devices is the lack of an onboard cd-rom and dvd-rom drive, which makes it hard for regular users or even some hackers to install a third party distribution on them. This presentation will look at Unetbootin, an application which takes the usually complicated and arduous task of turning a flash drive into a bootable installer and makes it a simple "click and go." Along with looking at Unetbootin, a very quick overview of the specifics of installing Fedora 11 on an EEE 1000HE will presented to tie things together.

Bio: Ryan Rix is a high school student currently working full time at a consulting firm. He has been a GNU/Linux user for about two years now and somewhat of a Free software fanatic. He currently is writing an Free on board development IDE from the ground up for C and Pascal on PalmOS handhelds and smartphones called OnBoard-NG. It's a fork of the OnBoardC project which is already very popular for some PalmOS developers.
